A Joyful First Anniversary Session at Home

ANNIVERSARY

June 9, 2017

JAQUI + JASON | NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

Okay, for those skeptics out there that are unsure if wearing your wedding dress around the house would make for a cute photoshoot – we’re about to waive any of those questions. It is beyond adorable! Plus, Jaqui paired her wedding gown with a cardigan which gave it an at home, relaxed feeling. Soooo cute y’all! I know, I know, my inbox has already started to flood with requests for similar photoshoots. Well, that’s just the kind of trend setter Jaqui is; remember her & Jason’s jawdropping night time ceremony from last spring at Farrar Hill Farms in Manchester, TN?! Yep, we can’t get enough of this amazing couple & we know, neither can you!
Jason & Jaqui invited us to their house for the first half of their anniversary session. We love that they chose this location because it was such a great way to document their first home as husband and wife. And, hello, are y’all not totally feeling the Chip & Joanna Gaines vibes in the photos of them on the front porch? No? Just me? Alright then, moving on… haha. When we arrived at their home Jaqui was prancing around the kitchen in her dress ecstatic about the photoshoot. She had everything set out on their kitchen table – their wedding candle, the top tier of Jason’s groom cake, & even one of the lanterns that her bridesmaids carried down the aisle in lieu of flowers. Speaking of the top tier of the cake, that had a little bit of an adventure of it’s own. When moving into their new home they had to keep it in a cooler while their refrigerator was fixed. They were committed to this cake & preserving it for this photoshoot; although, both were a bit skeptical on how it would taste after defrosting & then refreezing & defrosting again. Jason was the most weary of what it would taste like. Ironically, he wanted to go back for seconds! haha

The couple had recently gotten back from their anniversary trip. And what a trip it was. Y’all, they went to ICELAND. Yeah, that’s right. Iceland. How cool (no pun intended) is that?! We had a lot of fun listening to their stories about their trip including being caught in an impressive storm while driving an itty bitty car. Not just any storm either, no. As they went up and down the hills they would find it snowing at the peak of the hill and then pouring monsoon amounts of rain when they hit the bottom. How crazy is that? Another of our favorite stories was when they met their AirBnB host. They went to Iceland expecting it to be freezing & were shocked by how much colder the weather was than they could have imagined. But, that didn’t stop their host from walking out in shorts with his bald head uncovered. Naturally they asked if he was cold, which was met with a lot of laughter from him and a resounding “of course I’m cold!”. They visited some really cool locations, including waterfalls. I’ve always wanted to visit Iceland and am hoping Pat agrees to it someday.
We’ve had plenty of photoshoots around the pedestrian bridge, and trust us, it’s one of our very favorite locations in Nashville to do a photoshoot. We love how versatile it is. There is space for photos in a park setting, with the skyline in the background & it’s just a little walk down to Broadway! So many options. When Jason & Jaqui first asked us about going downtown they were unsure if they wanted to for this session. But once her coworker showed her some photos he had taken there she got more excited & when we all remembered that the Nashville Predators flags were hanging from the bridge for the Stanley Cup Finals I got really excited. Hardly anyone else is going to have a photoshoot on the bridge with the flags hanging; limited edition y’all! I love it! And, since these two are big Preds fans it was the perfect way to end their anniversary photoshoot. Plus, Jason proposed to Jaqui on the bridge – we even got some photos by the bench where he asked her!
