5 Activities to Step Away from Wedding Planning

We remember what it was like planning our wedding – and it’s basically a second full time job! I spent hours combing through Pinterest, searching websites like The Knot, Wedding Wire, and Perfect Wedding Guide in hopes of finding the perfect venue, best caterer, photographer and oh, yeah, balancing a budget. There are so many huge decisions that go into Wedding Planning that sometimes it’s easy to get lost in those details and forget to take a moment to just enjoy the little things together. So set aside that wedding planning binder, schedule your vendor consultations for next week, turn off your social media notifications and step away from the planning for a night! Here are our 5 activities to get away from it all for a moment.

1. Game Night with Friends!

Ok, so this isn’t an intimate activity with just the two of you; but face it, when was the last time y’all hung out with your friends & didn’t talk wedding planning? It’s probably been an embarrassingly long time. And that’s ok! Tonight we change that! Send out a text invite and gather your friends to your house for a night of board games! Our tip? Kick the evening up a notch by having everyone drop their phone in a basket when they arrive so you can have an authentic, uninterrupted & socially unplugged night of fun with your friends!

2. Table for 2!

Saving money for the big day? Goodness, do we remember that! Trust us, it’s worth it though! We totally recommend going out on a lunch date together at a fancy restaurant. Some restaurants like Chop House have an incredible lunch menu without the sting of the high prices that their evening menu may have. $10 steak from one of the most delicious spots in town, definitely worth the little splurge!

3. Hit the Park!

We live in such an amazing state with so many gorgeous views! But chances are good that you haven’t actually been to all of the state parks and adventured around together, am I right? Every town around here has a nice greenway or local parks, but we are particularly fond of walking around Tennessee state parks. We recommend visiting Long Hunter State Park and Radnor Lake during the fall. If you’re feeling like treking up to see a waterfall Cummins Falls and Fall Creek Falls! Our Tip! Pack a picnic or bring your bikes!

4. Movie Pass!

Have you been introduced to the fabulously awesome new membership that is Movie Pass?! Ok, so we admit, this one is a bit of a monthly splurge but it’s a guaranteed date night for the 2 of you every day of the week! For a $10 monthly subscription per person you can watch movies at the local theater together. Instead of spending $25 just to see 1 movie you are spending $20 to see as many movies as you want to that month! Seriously, this subscription is a game changer!

5. Kick it old school!

Take a stroll down memory lane. Attend a football game at your high school or college! Reminisce about your favorite classes, extra curricular activities and indulge in some of the concession stand food. Not big into sports? Check out a local band competition or drama production!
