OUR FUR BABIES | PERSONAL

Today’s post is all about our fur babies, well, 2 of them. The main girls that everyone loves spending time with when they visit our home studio (if you are like me & have allergies, don’t worry, they aren’t allowed in our actual studio space). Yes, you read that correctly, I’m allergic to these two cuties but they are totally worth taking a a Zyrtec daily for…. well, most days they are, haha. Thankfully Pat isn’t as sensitive to their fur as I am so he tends to soak up a majority of the snuggle time.

I had been vying for a cat for years but agreed to wait until we moved to Tennessee. Shortly after we settled into our first house in Murfreesboro I began looking at kittens online. I searched a lot because I wanted a cat who reminded me of the one I grew up with, KC. When I saw a posting for this litter of kittens I was so excited because of the color of their eyes, hair length, and markings were all the same as KC with one exception – on their tummies they are actually spotted! When we left our house to go look at the kittens Pat had agreed to 1 cat… well, as you can see, we have 2. Of course, once we met them & found out they were the last two twin sisters from the litter I simply couldn’t leave with only one. So we headed home with one more baby than expected.

So, for those of you who don’t already know them, these two are River & Rose. Now’s when most people give me a semi quizzicle look and ask for an explanation of their names. One of our favorite tv shows to watch while we were dating was Dr Who, both River & Rose are characters on the show. Additionally, during our first date we bonded over mutual love for Firefly, River is one of the lead characters in that show as well. And, I’m in Alpha Omicron Pi, and our flower is a Jacqueminot Rose. So, the names were just so fitting.

A year after we brought Rose & River home , while I was still working at another Murfreesboro photography studio, I was handed a cute little bunny. Little did I know when I was handed the tiny bunny I would end up bringing him home too. So, while the cats have the run of the house, our rabbit, Rory (yes, like Gilmore Girls & Dr. Who), is office buddies with Pat. It’s been several years since I’ve brought home another pet and I’m pretty certain that Pat’s thankful for that, haha. And for those of you who picked up on the fact that all 3 of our fur babies have names that begin with R… well, that was totally coincidental & completely unplanned, haha!
