BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE WEDDING SUMMIT 2018

Hosted by The Wedding Market, the Wedding Summit 2018 was held at the absolutely breathtaking Estate at Cherokee Dock in Lebanon, TN. This is a gorgeous new Nashville wedding venue that has a special history, as it is the former home of country music star Reba McEntire! Julie Albaugh brought together some incredible speakers for us to listen and learn from. Julie has been hosting the #WeddingMarket chats on Twitter and has had the pleasure of hosting guest speakers such as David Tutera, the Cake Boss and Disney Weddings.

Bogdan Constantin, the founder of Menguin & CMO of Generation Tux, had an inspirational talk about how he scaled his online suit & tuxedo rental company into a profitable business that was ultimately acquired by Generation Tux in 2017 for $25 million. He is fueled by marketing and the theories and logic that go into different social media and online sales. With a background in several Fortune 500 companies specializing in finance and strategy, he is an expert in his field. Y’all, this man is brilliant! He graduated from the University of Georgia in only 2 and a half years & can speak 5 languages. If you ever have the opportunity to take a course from this man, do not pass it up!

We also were fortunate to hear from Heather Benge. You may recognize her from Style Shoots Across America. She is a professionally certified event planner and is known for her styled photoshoots across all 50 states. This girl is a multitasking guru – she is the creator of Pretty & Published, owns an event planning boutique, is a Lovegifty instructor, and even manages a high end wedding venue in Houston TX. Seeing as how I adore organizing styled photoshoots and had recently come across Heather through SSAA I was particularly fascinated to hear her speak.

At the end of day 1 of the 2 day conference, TWESA hosted their monthly meeting as a part of the Wedding Summit. There was a life Facebook panel featuring many of the speakers discussing social media practices and other Wedtech trends. View more behind the scenes of the event here.

Day 2 brought us an incredibly in depth and interesting course led by Angela Proffitt, based in Nashville she is only of the industry leaders & most prominent event planners & designers in the world. It was very interesting to hear from her about marketing through TV and video. Angela has a background in psychology & hearing the way that her mental health background influences the way she approaches event planning is fascinating. The second half of the day was a lesson on branding and social media from Jacqui Wadsworth who owns The Gilded Gown in Knoxville, TN. It was inspiring to hear how her boutique is thriving while many storefronts are struggling. She has found a way to seamlessly pair online social media marketing with her brick and mortar storefront.
