FEATURE FRIDAY | FLASH

Welcome to another installment of Feature Friday, in which we share with you some of our favorite Movies & TV shows! When we first were dating one of the things we bonded over was chatting about some of our favorite shows. We’ve found that is the same for a lot of our couples too! So, every now and then, we will showcase a different movie or show and share some of the reasons why we recommend it and the things that we really like about it. So be sure to tune in, check out some of our favorites, and maybe even turn it into a date night with your fiance! Make dinner or order in and tune in to watch one of our favorites.

This week: The Flash

Barry Allen is the fastest man alive, a fact he’ll remind you of at the beginning of every episode of CW’s “The Flash,” not to mention probably at least one other character will bring it up during the course of the show. But it should be stressed, he’s very very fast. And his show is very very fun.

A spin-off of CW’s first DC Comics-based show Arrow, The Flash takes what worked on Arrow (a deep mythology relying on slightly more obscure characters from decades of comics lore), gets rid of what didn’t (it’s. so. serious. all the time), adds about 300% more humor, and turns it all into one of the most entertaining superhero shows on the air right now.

Where Arrow villains tends to be various versions of either evil businessmen or assassins with ties to Oliver’s past, Flash throws all that out the window and gives us evil alternate timeline versions of main characters, the literal God of Speed, a guy with a freeze gun and his partner with a fire gun, a telepathic gorilla, a guy who controls mirrors, and more time travel than you can shake a Speed Force lightning bolt at.

We were both pretty bummed when it was announced that Grant Gustin wasn’t going to get to play Barry in the Justice League movies – even though we love Ezra Miller – but if it means we don’t lose him to the big screen and we get more of him hanging out with his great supporting cast (Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin…), we’ll consider that a silver lining.
