Graduation season is always special, but there’s something uniquely inspiring about celebrating the success of a student who’s worked hard, stayed determined, and is stepping into a brand-new chapter. Addy’s graduation session at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was one for the books — full of perfect weather, laughter, celebration, and complete with a champagne.
As an MTSU senior photographer, I get the privilege of capturing so many milestones for college students who have poured years of effort into their degrees. Addy’s photoshoot was no exception. Her story is a beautiful mix of academic achievement, family support, and future ambition. She earned her degree in Business Administration and will soon be joining her family’s company — taking the skills she’s learned in the classroom and applying them to the real world.
Two Outfits, One Stunning Graduate
Addy booked a full session, so she brought two outfits — one traditional for the cap and gown photos and a super fun celebratory animal print! She also brought her cap and gown with a custom stole and cords.
The white dress was perfect for the relaxed settings around campus, especially at the blue horseshoe — a classic and beloved MTSU landmark. This iconic spot always photographs beautifully and gives seniors the chance to show off school spirit in a bold, colorful way.
Switching to her cap and gown gave us that timeless graduation feel. Her custom stole and cords added a personal touch, representing her academic accomplishments and involvement during her time at MTSU. These details tell an important part of the story, and as a Middle Tennessee State University graduation photographer, I always encourage seniors to bring along every accessory that reflects their journey.

The Heart of Campus: The Library & University Seal
Addy’s shoot was centered around two of the most recognizable spots on campus: the James E. Walker Library and the university seal.
We started in front of the library’s impressive facade, where the clean lines and open steps make a perfect backdrop for classic graduation portraits. Addy looked radiant here — the combination of her gown, cords, and confident smile perfectly symbolized the finish line of her academic journey.
But we saved the most exciting part for last — popping champagne at the university seal in front of the library. The seal is a sacred spot for many MTSU students. Tradition says you shouldn’t step on it before graduation or risk bad luck, so it’s always a fun and meaningful moment when seniors finally get to stand there and celebrate.
Addy shook the bottle, let the cork fly, and laughed as the champagne sprayed into the air. It was pure joy — the kind of moment you’ll never forget and one that photographs beautifully every single time.
Love, Support, and Shared Celebration
What made this session even more meaningful was that Addy’s husband joined in for photos. His pride and support were written all over his face, and it was clear how much he has cheered her on throughout her degree.
Couple graduation portraits always add another layer of story — they capture not just the graduate, but the team behind the achievement. Having loved ones present is a wonderful way to remember the people who helped make this milestone possible. As an MTSU senior photographer, I’m always happy to include partners, family members, or friends in your session. It turns your graduation gallery into something even more personal and heartfelt.
Addy’s Next Chapter
With her degree in hand, Addy is stepping into a new professional role within her family’s business. Her graduation session was more than just a photoshoot — it was a visual celebration of her years of hard work, late nights, and big dreams.
From the quiet confidence of her casual portraits to the joyful burst of champagne at the University seal, every image tells a story of dedication, support, and excitement for what’s ahead.
If you’re an MTSU senior preparing to turn your tassel, I’d love to help you capture your own celebration. Whether you want to focus on iconic campus landmarks, highlight your school spirit, or include the people who matter most, your session will be as unique as your journey.

Why the Location Matters for MTSU Senior Photography
If you’re an MTSU student planning your own graduation photos, Addy’s session is a perfect example of why the campus itself is such a fantastic backdrop. With her Full Session she was able to capture a variety of looks throughout her favorite spots on campus!
The Walker Library provides a grand, formal setting that feels timeless and tied directly to your college years. The blue horseshoe is full of school spirit and bright color. The university seal offers that perfect, symbolic “I made it” grad photo spots.
When we design your senior session, we can explore multiple locations on campus to create a gallery that’s both personal and varied — from stately architecture to vibrant pops of blue and gold.
Tips for Your MTSU Graduation Fll Session
Here are a few takeaways from Addy’s experience that can help you plan your own:
- Bring Multiple Outfits
Just like Addy, plan for at least two looks — I recommend one casual or semi-formal and one with your cap and gown. This gives you more variety in your gallery. - Include Your Graduation Details
Custom stoles, cords, pins, and medallions all help tell your unique story. - Think About Your “Big Moment”
Whether it’s popping champagne, tossing your cap, or walking hand-in-hand with loved ones, plan a celebratory action shot to wrap up your session. - Time Your Shoot Well
Spring and fall tend to be the most popular for MTSU senior sessions. Book early so you can secure the best light and availability.
