Some graduation sessions are more than just portraits — they’re an adventure, a celebration, and a showcase of personality all rolled into one. Kara’s Lipscomb University graduation photoshoot was exactly that. It’s always so much fun to work as a Lipscomb University senior photographer!

Graduating with her degree in accounting, Kara wanted her session to reflect not just her academic success, but also her style, confidence, and love for the city she’s called home during college. We created a full session with an extra outfit and location, exploring iconic spots on campus before heading to downtown Nashville for an unforgettable sunset finale on the pedestrian bridge.

A Three-Look Graduation Story

Kara’s session had three distinct styles, each telling a different part of her story:

  1. Classic White Dress & Graduation Attire – Timeless and elegant, perfect for her official graduation portraits.
  2. Hot Pink Power Suit – Bold, confident, and modern — a look that screamed “future business leader.”
  3. Casual Bridge Outfit – Relaxed jeans, a white Lipscomb pullover, and dusty rose Converse, perfect for laid-back, joyful shots at sunset.

This variety meant Kara’s final gallery could be used for everything from formal announcements to fun Instagram posts and personal keepsakes.

Starting Strong at the Allen Bell Tower

We kicked off the session at the Allen Bell Tower, one of Lipscomb University’s most recognizable landmarks. In her white dress, cords, and full graduation regalia, Kara stood proudly with the tower rising behind her. This location’s open space and architectural details gave us both grand, sweeping shots and intimate close-ups.

Steps of the Health Sciences Center

From there, we moved to the Burton Health Science Center staircase, where the clean lines and bright stone offered a crisp, modern backdrop. Kara’s white dress popped beautifully against the neutral tones, and the gentle afternoon light made her graduation details shine.

Inside the Swang Business Center

As an accounting major, it was only fitting to spend time inside the College of Business’s Swang Business Center. This location added a personal connection to her academic journey, and the polished interior made for professional, magazine-worthy images — especially when she swapped into her hot pink power suit.

The suit was a showstopper. Its vibrant color and structured design radiated confidence, perfectly matching Kara’s drive and ambition. As a Nashville senior photographer, I love when graduates bring bold outfit choices that break from tradition — they create some of the most memorable images.

The Lipscomb Sign Arbor

Our final campus stop was on the edge of campus under the Lipscomb sign arbor. The green framing and bold lettering made this spot ideal for celebratory shots. Here, we mixed solo portraits with a few candid moments, capturing both Kara’s joy and the sentimental “this is my school” vibe.

Sunset on the Pedestrian Bridge

After wrapping up on campus, we headed downtown to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge for sunset photos overlooking the Nashville skyline. Kara switched into her casual look — jeans, white Lipscomb pullover, and dusty rose Converse — for a relaxed, approachable vibe.

The bridge’s sweeping city views and golden evening light made for a dreamy finale to her session. From leaning on the rail with the skyline in the background to laughing mid-step as the sun dipped low, these images captured the perfect mix of achievement and excitement for what’s next.

Why Full Sessions Shine (Especially With Extra Locations)

Kara’s gallery is proof that full graduation sessions with extra outfits and locations give you unmatched variety. By mixing classic, professional, and casual styles — plus campus and city locations — you end up with a collection of portraits that tell your whole story, not just the academic side.

If you’re considering your own graduation session, here’s why going beyond a mini shoot is worth it:

  • Golden hour flexibility: We can time your shoot to hit multiple locations in the best light.
  • Multiple looks: From formal to fun, you get images for every purpose.
  • Variety in settings: Campus locations tie your portraits to your university; off-campus spots add personality and adventure.
  • More relaxed pace: A longer session means more time to try creative poses and capture candid moments.

Tips for a Multi-Look Graduation Session

Kara’s shoot went smoothly because she came prepared. If you’re planning a similar session, here’s what I recommend:

  1. Plan outfits in order: Start with formal looks on campus, then move to casual outfits for off-campus fun.
  2. Bring all accessories: Cords, stoles, and regalia for formal portraits; comfortable shoes for walking between spots.
  3. Coordinate timing: Sunset on the pedestrian bridge is stunning — plan to end there for that warm, glowing light.
  4. Choose meaningful campus spots: Think about buildings tied to your major, favorite hangouts, or iconic landmarks.
  5. Keep it personal: Your session should feel like you, not just a checklist of standard shots.

A Celebration of Hard Work and What’s Next

Graduating with an accounting degree is no small feat — it takes precision, dedication, and countless hours of study. Kara’s graduation session wasn’t just a celebration of that achievement; it was also a reflection of her personality, ambition, and excitement for the next chapter.

From the elegance of the Allen Bell Tower to the boldness of her hot pink suit in the Swang Business Center, and finally to the golden skyline views on the pedestrian bridge, Kara’s gallery captures a complete story: where she’s been, who she is, and where she’s headed.
