Tara’s Lipscomb University Graduation Photographer | Nashville Mini Session

Lipscomb

September 25, 2025

Some moments in life deserve to be remembered forever, and a master’s graduation is one of them. Tara hired me to be her Lipscomb University graduation photographer. She booked a mini graduation session was a gorgeous celebration of years of hard work, dedication, and academic achievement — all captured in the warm glow of a Nashville sunset.

Wearing her full master’s regalia, cords, and graduation cap, Tara looked every bit the accomplished graduate as we explored some of the most beautiful spots on campus. From the stately Burton Health Science Center to the peaceful baptismal fountains, her session blended elegance, meaning, and that unmistakable post-graduation joy.

Sunset Style in White

Tara chose a white dress with white heels as the foundation for her graduation look. The clean, classic palette paired perfectly with her master’s gown, giving her portraits a timeless feel.

As a Nashville senior photographer specializing in graduation sessions, I always love photographing white dresses against campus backdrops — the simplicity of the outfit lets the regalia and location shine while keeping the focus on the graduate.

Burton Health Science Center — A Meaningful Start

We began the session in front of the Burton Health Science Center, where Tara completed much of her master’s coursework. I was thrilled when she booked me to be her Lipscomb University graduation photographer. The building’s stately architecture served as a symbolic starting point for her portraits, connecting her photos to the place where so much of her academic journey took place.

The golden-hour light cast a soft, flattering glow, highlighting both Tara’s smile and the crisp details of her cap, gown, and cords. From wider shots that included the Allen Bell Tower in the distance to closer portraits that captured her joy, this location gave her gallery a mix of grandeur and intimacy.

The Iconic Belltower in the Distance

No Lipscomb University graduation photos would be complete without the belltower — an iconic part of campus and a beloved symbol for students and alumni alike.

We positioned Tara so the Allen Bell tower peeked through the background, creating depth and instantly recognizable campus imagery. This subtle nod to one of Lipscomb’s most well-known landmarks tied her portraits to the university in a way that will make them even more meaningful years from now.

Senior Photos at the Baptism Fountains

Our last stop was the baptism fountains near the library. This location brought a sense of calm and reflection to Tara’s session. The gentle sound of water and the soft light of sunset made it the perfect spot to wrap up our time together. She trusted me as her Lipscomb University graduation photographer.

Here, we captured both posed portraits and quieter moments that reflected the peace and pride that come after completing such a significant academic milestone. The combination of Tara’s master’s attire and the serene setting made for truly striking images at dusk.

Why Mini Sessions Work for Master’s Graduates

Tara opted for a mini graduation session, which was ideal for her needs. Mini sessions are perfect for graduates who want beautiful, professional portraits in a shorter timeframe. In just 30 minutes, we covered two meaningful campus locations, incorporated multiple poses and angles, and still had time for those special candid moments.

Mini sessions are also a great choice for master’s graduates because they often already have professional headshots or undergraduate graduation portraits — this session can focus purely on celebrating the milestone without needing an extended shoot.

Tips for a Perfect Lipscomb University Graduation Mini Session

If you’re a future Lipscomb graduate planning your own session, here’s how to make the most of it:

  1. Choose a Classic Outfit – White dresses, neutral tones, or sleek solids pair beautifully with graduation regalia.
  2. Highlight Your Regalia – Master’s hoods, cords, and caps are a big part of your achievement — let them take center stage.
  3. Pick Iconic Campus Locations – Buildings connected to your major, the belltower, and unique spots like the baptismal fountains make for meaningful backdrops.
  4. Schedule at Golden Hour – Sunset light is flattering, warm, and makes campus glow.
  5. Keep It Personal – Whether it’s a meaningful building or a quiet reflection spot, choose locations that tell your story.

The Meaning Behind the Milestone

Earning a master’s degree is no small feat — it takes dedication, focus, and years of effort. Tara’s portraits weren’t just about marking graduation day; they were about celebrating the journey that brought her here and the new chapter ahead.

From the steps of the Burton Health Science Center to the stillness of the baptismal fountains, each image captured both her academic pride and her personal style. With the belltower standing tall in the background and the glow of sunset on her face, Tara’s mini session felt like the perfect closing note to her time at Lipscomb University.

If you’re ready to book your own Lipscomb University graduation session, I’d love to help you create portraits that celebrate your hard work and showcase the beauty of campus. Whether you choose a mini session like Tara or a full session with multiple locations and outfits, your graduation gallery will be a lasting reminder of one of the biggest milestones in your life.
