When we first met Wes & Jes we immediately bonded with them over our mutual love of all things geeky. They planned a non traditional wedding in one of the most beautiful Tennessee venues we have seen yet! Butterfly Gap Retreat is nestled in a valley with large mountainous hills on all sides which are covered in trees. They tied the knot in October. Yeah, you can imagine how absolutely gorgeous it was!

The beautiful fall foliage was mixed with the light mist & drizzle of rain throughout the day. Jessica’s choice of flats was the perfect footwear for the wedding day. Comfortable & practical! And the hairpiece she selected was absolutely stunning! With intricate diamond and pearl accents in a mix of gold and silver thread.

Butterfly Gap Retreat has an indoor and an outdoor ceremony space. The outdoor is on a long strip of land extending into the center of a lake. The indoor location is this stunning chapel. The architecture and windows are breathtaking. One of the best parts about selecting a venue with both an indoor and outdoor ceremony location is that you don’t have to worry at all if the weather doesn’t cooperate, there is already a fabulous backup plan ready for you!

There is a hidden little gem of a spot at Butterfly Gap that the bead and breakfast staff shared with us. We followed a train heading up high into the hills, none of us knew quite where we were going, but the moment we can around the bend and saw this view, we knew without a doubt that this was it!

Jessica’s bridal bouquet had a beautiful organic feel to it, with a lot of soft subtle greens & ivory. It was an absolute dream and complimented their reception centerpieces so seamlessly.

Instead of a traditional cake, they chose to have this glorious tower of doughnuts. Chocolate Glazed with chocolate frosting, Jelly filled with Powdered Sugar, Plain Glazed & Old Fashioned. Atop the Doughnut-Cake were there cake toppers – perfect for the geeky couple, which we love, two characters from Star Wars & Batman.
