BEHIND THE SCENES AT WPPI 2018
This was our first year attending WPPI, although we have been wanting to for several years now. For those of you who haven’t previously heard of WPPI it is a huge annual photography & videography conference in Las Vegas. The Wedding & Portrait Photography International (WPPI) conference is held at the Mandalay May convention center.
One of the big draws of this convention is the amazing expo floor where you can walk around and visit different exhibitors booths. From camera companies, to professional labs, to different gear. There’s a little something for everyone in the photography & videography industries. It was a lot of fun to speak with companies whose products we already use such as Animoto, Fundy, Holdfast, Two Bright Lights, Jpegmini, SongFreedom. And we were able to find and look at some really cool new products that we’ve been looking at for several years like Fractals, Ikan, MagMod, Studio Ninja, Lensflipper, Tether Tools.
In addition to the expo floor, if you opt to attend the full convention you can take educational courses from so many crazy talented photographers and videographers from all across the globe. Pat had several opportunities to learn some amazing videography techniques from Brandon Rice and I was able to learn from some incredible photographers. For photography I had sessions with Trevor Dayley, Zabrina Deng, 37 Frames Photography, Vanessa Joy, Scott Robert Lim, Easton Reynolds, JB & DeEtte Sallee, Ryan Schembri. Plus, you can even seen some behind the scenes photos of a more hands on class I took with Sunshine & Reign Photography.
This was a whirlwind of a week for us. We had an incredible time and learned so much too. Plus, we got to see some of our dear friends John & Kali who live in Vegas. There are so many conferences across the world that are amazing educational opportunities. We’ve taken workshops in the past but it was very fun to attend a large scale convention. The next one we are hoping to attend is Showit United.
