After their super-fun winter engagement shoot (complete with cocoa and heart marshmallows!), we couldn’t wait for Melanie and Peter’s wedding day at Cedar Lane Church of Christ in Tullahoma.  And while the winter air for that first shoot was brisk and cool, the day of the ceremony was anything but! The happy couple as well as their wedding party were great sports about the heat, though, and had a blast.  The fact that the ceremony and the reception were both in a beautiful air-conditioned church helped.  The ceremony was a wonderful celebration of their love, with lots of fun and sweet stories about them both from the minister.

The reception was very casual with just a buffet and a cake cutting and a whole lot of meeting and greeting with their guests, which is the couple to a T.  Melanie and Peter are such a wonderful, laid-back couple, that having a social gathering rather than a huge party is just their style. Peter just finished grad school, where he’d been studying archaeology.  As an awesome personal touch, they had a dig-site themed groom’s cake that was actually layered like the Earth! Peter’s groom cake was absolute perfection. They even cut the grooms cake using some of his archeology tools.

On the way out of the church, family and friends showered them with flower petals, and they drove off to their happily ever after! Seriously, flower petal during the daytime are our favorite grand exit for a church wedding… followed shortly by bubbles, because who doesn’t love bubbles?!
